MAC Halsey Lipstick Review

Written by Raegan Cleary

It’s no secret that I’m a HUGE fan of Halsey, so when I heard she was collaborating with MAC to create a lipstick for their Future Forward collection I was ecstatic. For months I waited in anticipation until March 31st rolled around. Even though I love Halsey I spent some time debating on whether or not I really needed a gray lipstick. However at $17 it is only $4 more than a L’Oreal lip stain, not to mention the unique color is not something you could find in the drugstore.

Typically MAC offers free standard shipping but on the day I purchased the lipstick they were offering free two day shipping and that definitely pushed me into buying it.  My lipstick arrived Monday and I was blown away by how nicely packaged it was. The sleek, black box felt so luxurious. It was stuffed with tissue paper, and even a mascara sample!

The lipstick came in a bright blue box instead of MAC’s signature black, with Halsey’s signature scrawled across the top. In the tube, the product appears to be a medium neutral gray however; like in the advertisement the color has more of a blue tone when applied to the lips. The lipstick is a matte formula but is not nearly as drying as some other high end lipsticks that I’ve tried.25678013363_13e1047e7c_o

When wearing a gray lip, like any bold lip, it’s important to make that the stand out feature of your look. I love the way pink and gray look together so I pair the lipstick with some simple rose-gold eyeshadow and a few coats of mascara. The same idea goes for outfits too. This lipstick looks best when paired with a neutral outfit with a pop of color in an accessory like a bag or a shoe.
