You may have heard about Nathalia JMag’s whimsical designs–they were featured on the latest season of Project Runway, and in our latest issue of POLISHED magazine.

JMag had been designing clothing for about three years and was in her senior year at Framingham State University when she decided to launch her label. She had one goal in mind with this label: to be ethical. In order to cause no harm to people, animals, or the environment, she only uses vegan furs and leathers, seeks alternatives to animal fibers, and has taken a zero waste design approach.

What we love the most about JMag is that she’s a local designer. JMag admits that studying and living in the Boston area has really influenced her trajectory in fashion. “I love and admire the people who get funny looks when walking on Newbury Street because they’re wearing a crazy outfit,” she said. “Like them, I wanted to be different and stand out. I still want to appeal to the average Bostonian, but my designs are things that haven’t been seen before.”

JMag cites nature, historical costume, outer space, aliens, music, the future, pop culture, and the people around her as sources of inspiration for her designs. According to JMag, “the Nathalia JMag label is for people who are different and are not afraid to show it; the artists, the trendsetters and fashion rebels.”

Not only does she have a strong love for design, but JMag also loves blogging about all things fashion.  Photoshoots, new discoveries about eco-consciousness in design and entrepreneurship, and more can all be found on her website, nathaliajmag.com.

Again, big thanks to Nathalia JMag for contributing to the latest POLISHED issue!
