Upcycling clothing is a fun way to give life to your old clothing. Not only does it help the environment, but it allows you to bring out your creative side. Upcycling clothing can be as simple as cropping an article of clothing, or adding patch work. For a school project this semester I did some patch work on a pair of jeans. This opened my creative side and brought the jeans from last season to this season.
Simple changes to clothing allow for the pieces to live longer lives and to match more seasons. In the past I have taken oversized shirts and cropped them, allowing them to follow the trends. I have also seen dresses be cropped and hemed into a shirt and dress combo, which is super in this summer season. Before you go throw out an old clothing piece or donate, see what you can do with it first. This not only helps the environment, but also saves you money. You no longer have to spend money on new clothing, just work on upcycling your older pieces.
